Florida Medical Association Selects McKesson as Preferred Vendor

Organization’s First Electronic Medical Record List Offers Selection Guidance to Members

ATLANTA, September 10th, 2008 - McKesson announced today that Practice Partner® Patient Records software, an award-winning electronic health record, has achieved preferred status on the Florida Medical Association’s first electronic medical record (EMR) vendor list. The preferred vendor list offers selection guidance to the state’s more than 16,000 physicians looking to adopt an EMR solution.

“Thousands of Florida patients stand to benefit when their physicians adopt EMRs, so we’re pleased the Florida Medical Association now recommends our offerings to its members,” said Bing Teng, vice president and general manager for McKesson’s Practice Partner business. “We look forward to helping the FMA educate providers and implement solutions that can be used at the point of care to improve patient care quality and satisfaction, while driving physician efficiency.”

To be considered for the list, EMR vendors were required to have current certification from the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT), in addition to an eprescribing solution and a strong customer base in Florida. McKesson’s Practice Partner software is a leading integrated electronic health record (EHR), medical billing and appointment scheduling software solution. For more than 20 years, the Practice Partner solution has helped physician practices increase productivity and improve quality of care.

“We envision the preferred vendor list to be a dynamic tool updated periodically to include new products and innovations entering the rapidly changing EMR market,” said Glen D. Fielder, EMR grant project director, Florida Medical Association. “We are delighted that Practice Partner has qualified as one of our preferred vendors.”

McKesson has a technology reach to 125,000 physicians across the United States. Its portfolio of offerings comprise a complete solution – including software, billing and collection services, supplies and connectivity – to physician practices regardless of size, specialty or geographic location.
